Renovation Restrictions? No problem.
In my apartment building, there is very little flexibility in making major changes to the kitchen decor. Yet, I love to use the kitchen for entertaining, and have incorporated some of my favorite items to make this small kitchen work for me.
Use Of Color
Pops of color and bright prints bring it to life, especially in Spring. I’ve incorporate some fun things like pom poms over the kitchen bar, my favorite set of giraffe measuring spoons, and fun prints.

Sentimental Accent: The Piggy Cookie Jar
It’s a great vintage piece that was originally my great-great grandma Silvia’s (who I actually had the pleasure of knowing when I was a wee tot). It sat on her kitchen counter, then on my grandma’s kitchen counter and then on my father’s. Now, we proudly display it on ours. It always makes me smile.
A Dog’s Life
We had our dog food bowl stand (holds four bowls total) custom made. It sits in my most favorite little nook and I love the unexpected sprinkling of color. A mini oil painting representing their breed hangs just above.

Idea: Stations
To keep my kitchen clean and free of clutter, I have created stations throughout. One station is for food prep, the next is for coffee and we also have a toast station because we all love toast.
I also keep everything I need for cooking right next to the stove on top of a cake dish. Things like olive oil, salt and pepper and fresh herbs are always a hand length away.
For Entertaining
I don’t have a large bar area for people to sit and eat, so I purchased small stools from Kartell and I placed them at the end of the island where people always seem to congregate.

So there you have it, lighting ideas, color advice and space planning tips, all in the name of the small kitchen! We hope you’ve enjoyed your stay!
